Weekly Press Release and overnight occurrences
Jan 22nd:
Police issued a 3 day licence suspension to a LaSalle resident after registering
over 50mg of alcohol 100ml of blood on an approved roadside screening device.
Another Windsor resident was issued a 24 hour Novice License suspension for
registering blood alcohol on a roadside screening device. There is zero
tolerance for alcohol as a G1 driver.
Officers were dispatched to LBT Transport on Highway 18 for a theft report.
Officers met with the owner of the business who advised that aluminum rims and
some scrap metal was taken off the property. Anyone with any information is to

Police responded to Matchette Rd. and Golfview Ave. for a report of a single
motor vehicle accident involving a deer. The driver was driving north bound on
Matchette Rd. when the deer approached from the side striking the vehicle.
Jan 23rd:
Officers were dispatched to Heritage Ave. and Sandwich West Parkway for a report
of a two vehicle accident. Once on scene Officers learned that a truck was
backing up and the driver did not see the other vehicle to the rear. The truck
struck the drivers front side bumper causing approximately $2000 in damage. As a
result the truck driver was charged with careless driving.
Officers were also kept busy with found and lost property reports.
Jan. 24th:
A 3 day License suspension was issued to a McGregor resident for registering
over 50mgs of alcohol in 100ml of blood on a roadside alcohol test.
Officers stopped a vehicle on Front Road as the driver appeared to be acting
suspicious. Further to the stop it was learned that the driver was suspended due
to unpaid fines dating back to 2009. The driver was issued a Part III Summons
with a date to appear in court.
Police attended Villa Nova High School for a theft of wallet report. The
complainant informed the officer that upon returning from a practice the wallet
was missing. The wallet contained all personal identification as well as cash.
Investigation is continuing.
A bike was reported stolen from a residence on Huntwick Crs. The caller stated
that the bike was last seen around the holidays. The bike was noticed missing
when the complainant needed to ride the bike to school. The bike is an 18 speed
mountain bike valued at approximately $200.
During early evening hours, two drivers attended the parking lot of the LaSalle
Police station and were trying to get the attention of police. It appeared both
vehicles may have been involved in a road rage incident in which one of the
drivers drove to the station parking lot with the other following. Officers
heard the honking of the horn and spoke to both parties who claimed the other
was following. Both were given advice and direction as how to better handle the
situation.
Jan. 25th:
Several youths were cautioned regarding possession and trafficking in illegal
drugs. The youths were spoken to and their parents advised.
Jan. 26th:
An Amherstburg and LaSalle resident were stopped separately in LaSalle for
driving under suspension. Both drivers were served with part III Summons and
licences were seized.
Police were called to check the well-being of a five year old when the concerned
mother called. The parents were separated and living in different jurisdictions.
Officers attended the residence of the father and found the child in good health
and spirits. Officers updated the mother and reassured her that everything was
fine.
A resident attended the police station to report that the front license plate
from his truck was missing. The Ministry of Transportation requires a report
from police in order to obtain a new plate.
Jan. 27th:
An officer stopped an SUV in the 8600 blk of Malden Road. The driver was issued
a Part III Summons to appear in court to answer to charges stemming from not
having a license and also being a suspended driver. The vehicle was also
uninsured and the driver was unable to provide a permit. A tow truck was called
to remove the vehicle from the scene.
The same officer also stopped an uninsured vehicle at Reaume and Front Roads.
The owner was issued a Part III Summons to answer to court in relation to
non-payment of insurance. The vehicle was left in a parking lot.
Jan. 28th:
An officer attended a residence on Vermont Street with regard to ongoing
mischief. The owner was advised to call right away when they notice mischief and
officers will conduct extra patrols in the area.
Officers attended a motor vehicle accident on Ellis Street. There were no
injuries and both drivers were properly licensed and insured. One driver was
charged with Fail to Yield from Driveway. Both vehicles suffered minimal damage
and were able to be driven from the scene.
A construction site on Oakridge was found to have its interior door removed from
its hinges. It is believed this occurred within a 4hr time frame. Neighbours
were canvassed for more information.
Another motor vehicle accident occurred on Front Road at Laurier Drive. There
were no injuries but $6000 worth of damage did occur to the vehicles. One driver
was charged with Careless Driving.

Police
are seeking assistance from the public in a theft investigation that occurred on
August 3rd, 2011 on Rivervilla. The suspect in the photo is wanted
for questioning by Police after being caught on video in the vicinity of the
incident.
The
suspect is a white male is 17 to 20 yrs old, 5’ 8 - 5’ 10”, and thin build.
